Apresentação/Introdução
People with disabilities face multiple stereotypes and barriers that limit their sexual lives. Sexual assistance is a possible choice for sexual expression, in which trained individuals provide sexual services to clients with disabilities, improving their well-being. However, in Portugal the only way to access commercial sex is through sex workers who have no training to attend disabled clients.


Objetivos
To understand if sex workers see training as a useful aspect to be taken into account for improving psychological and sexual health of clients with disabilities and themselves.


Metodologia
An explorative study of qualitative approach was conducted. Thirteen sex workers interviews were analyzed using the thematic analysis method proposed by Braun and Clarke (2006).


Resultados
From the analysis of the interviews four themes have emerged. The search for sex work theme evidenced a demand for commercial sex by people with disabilities in Portugal and deepened knowledge about how they get in touch with sex workers. Clients theme characterized people with disabilities seeking out commercial sex as a male heterogeneous group. The theme about sex workers focused in their motivations which in some cases are more than economic. Finally, the attendance theme explained the dynamics of the relationship established and the many obstacles clients with disabilities overcome in order to express their sexuality through commercial sex.


Conclusões/Considerações
The main conclusions provide evidence that people with disabilities seek sexual and emotional satisfaction in sex work. Certain relationship specificities tend to be experienced with embarrassment on the part of professionals. Based on that and the obstacles observed, training to serve this group of clients and legalization of sex work were pointed out as measures to improve psychological and sexual health of those involved in commercial sex.
